Big Mountain formed in San Diego in 1991, first hitting the charts with the song "Touch My Light" in the late spring of 1993, which was spun frequently on local radio stations. However, their fame spread quickly when they recorded a reggae version of Peter Frampton’s song “Baby I Love Your Way,” which was featured on the soundtrack of the movie Reality Bites. With singer Quino’s unique vocals, this hit single reached #1 on the U.S. charts and dominated the Top 5 in Europe and Japan for nearly a year! The hit remains a favorite among people around the world, including new listeners alike. According to singer Joaquin McWhinney, aka Quino, "Jah willing, we na dun yet!" McWhinney and his brother James are the founadtion of Big Mountain and have kept the band alive.
Beyond I Sight is an OC/LA based Roots Reggae Band fronted by Ryan Gonzo, former guitarist/singer of Fortunate Youth and current guitarist/singer of Tribal Seeds. The band is composed of seven of Southern California's most talented reggae musicians including; Jeremy Santizo on guitar, Alex Gammill on Bass, Juan Navarrow on keys, Rosendo Mendoza on trombone/keys, and Vincent Villagomez on Sax/Ewi. Beyond I Sight has quickly risen to the top of the roots reggae scene. Deep bass lines and strict drums layered with tight skanks, rich keyboard layers and dub heavy horn lines are the foundation of this groups uniquely innovative sound. Beyond I Sight has emerged as a roots force to be reckoned with.
Back-Bone mixes together a wide array of eclectic influences to create their own blend of Reggae Rock and Ska. South bay locals, these 7 individuals have come together to blend their various influences to create a unique sound that captures the essence of reggae rock, ska, blues, jazz, oldies, and everything in between, that can only be described as Back-Bone.
