In 1954, Coco Chanel returned to her design house to design the tweed jacket, a core staple seen in all of Chanel’s collections. I guess what surprises me is that Mademoiselle Chanel designed the tweed jacket at age 71. Seen in this time as free movement and very modern to otherwise restrictive clothing , the tweed jacket was considered revolutionary.
It’s a fascinating video to think about the construction of the jacket and how it is still a key staple in Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel today, but also at all your most affordable retail stores such as Club Monaco or Forever 21.
