City Council Approves 5-Year Plan To Address Homelessness

Hermosa Beach was one of 48 cities to apply and receive $30,000 funding through Measure H.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA – Hermosa Beach City Council unanimously approved a five-year plan to address homelessness at a meeting Tuesday. The plain is a "community road map" to prevent homelessness locally and regionally, Nico De Anda-Scaia, assistant to the city manager, told The Beach Reporter.

Hermosa Beach was one of 48 cities to apply and receive $30,000 funding through Measure H, which Los Angeles County voters approved in March 2017 to address homelessness, according to the Beach Reporter. The measure raises county sales tax to generate $355 million annually over a 10-year period to provide homeless services countywide, the newspaper reported.

“It provides opportunities to create efficiencies at the local level and is really the first attempt that most cities have had to mesh together existing piecemeal local services and strategies across many organizations,” De Anda-Scaia said.
