City Website Honored

The state association for public information officials recognized the site with an Award of Distinction.

When the City of Hermosa Beach launched its new website last November, it was all about helping the residents get the information they needed in an easy to navigate space.

Then the California Association of Public Information Officials decided that the site warranted an Award of Distinction.

"It was somewhat unexpected," said city councilman Michael DiVirigilio. "Which is what makes awards even nicer."

"I have to give credit to Councilmember DiVirgilio," Mayor Jeff Duclos said about the effort to get the new website designed and up. "He worked really hard to increase the functionality of the site. He really pushed hard for this and I think correctly so."

In addition to DiVirgilio, city finance manager Viki Copeland was the project manager for the site, and Vision Internet, an outside company, was hired to provide the technical aspects.

The organization honored the site for it's "overall quality, the effectiveness of the site’s messages, its creativity and the appropriate use of city funds in developing the site," according to a press release received by Patch.
