Making a Difference in the Community

From Palos Verdes to Ann Arbor
He may have already made the transition into college but his Freedom4U legacy will never be forgotten. Former public relations and marketing manager, Alex Forsyth, recently left the South Bay to pursue economics at the University of Michigan. Forsyth, who worked for the non-profit for over two years, remembers his first day on the job, “I gave [Dr. Greg Allen] a twelve-page proposal of how I felt I could contribute to the cause.” Once hired, Forsyth did not waste any time putting his dreams into action. Not only did he contact newspapers with upcoming events and contests, but Forsyth also created the Freedom4U leadership group. Within the last year, Forsyth believes, “more people know the impact that Freedom4U has made through their music, counseling, and drug and alcohol awareness programs.” With all the hard work, determination and time that he has put into the organization, there is no doubt that Forsyth’s assumption is completely accurate. Forsyth reflected that “listening to stories about teens who have benefited from Freedom4U’s programs” was one of his favorite moments while working for the non-profit. “Freedom4U makes a genuine impact; it is a hidden gem that empowers teens through artistic expression,” concludes Forsyth.
