It was almost ten years ago when Ken Harrison was hit by a drunk driver on the corner of PCH and Pier Ave in Hermosa Beach (see photo attached, published with permission) He was rushed to the Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital where he was treated for massive internal injuries rendering him unable to work for a year.
When he fully recovered from this near fatal accident, Ken founded Young Musicians Performance Academy and shortly after , initiated an after school instrumental music program in 2005 for the children of Hermosa Valley School. He continues teaching kids twice weekly as Band Director of Hermosa Beach Youth Music.

Accidents happen all the time. People of all ages get sick . There will always be people who need our help . Let’s do our part and make a difference because Every blood type, every PINT COUNTS.

Appointments are not required ; Walk ins are always welcome. Please be aware that we are busiest between 12-1 pm . Allow yourself an hour from the time you arrive - you will be advised to rest (and have snack!) after giving blood.
We are giving away Tickets for 2 to The Comedy & Magic Club (that’s right, you give blood and take a friend to the show)
JAMBA JUICE, Hermosa Beach is donating smoothies for our blood donors. You will also receive a JAMBA JUICE gift card courtesy of Providence Hospital. We will have trail mixes from Whole Foods Redondo Beach.
After you give your 4th pint, you will receive a gift certificate from Fritto Misto, Please SIGN IN when you arrive so I can keep track of your donations. These incentives apply only when you give at our blood drives 8).
