Hermosa Beach City School District Cancels 5th/8th Grade Field Trips

The field trips planned for 5th grade (Thursday) and 8th grade (Wednesday) have been cancelled.

Superintendent Escalante had lengthy discussions with individual board members regarding the option of continuing or canceling Valley School's 5th and 8th-grade field trips for this week due to concerns associated with the COVID19 virus. Information was considered from a range of sources including Beach Cities Health District, neighboring districts, and national cancellations.

Currently there is not a directive from Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to cancel field trips, but we are erring on the side of abundant caution. Students are to report directly to their classroom or homeroom on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. The district is very sorry for the short notice and recongnized this is a dissapointmetn to the students and an inconvenience to the parents.

Information regarding refunds will be distributed next week.
