Hermosa Beach PD: Thieves Finding Easy Targets in Unlocked Cars

From the Hermosa Beach Police Department:

The city of Hermosa Beach has been experiencing an increase in the number of thefts from motor vehicles which have been left unlocked while parked overnight on city streets, parking lots, open garages, and even driveways. Your vehicle, no matter where you park it, becomes an easy target when you leave it unlocked.

The Hermosa Beach Police Department would like to remind residents to follow the simple rule of HIDE IT, LOCK IT, KEEP IT:

HIDE IT

Never leave valuables, such as iPads, laptops, GPS units, or money out in plain sight. If you’re unable to take these items inside, hide them in the center console, glove box, or in the trunk. Backpacks, luggage and shopping bags attract the attention of thieves, so even if they’re empty, it’s best to remove them from your vehicle.

LOCK IT

Remember to roll your windows up all the way, and always lock your vehicle, even if you’re only going to leave your vehicle for a minute. Parking your car in your own driveway does not deter thieves.

KEEP IT
