Hermosa Beach Skate Park Launches Membership Program

The membership program will eliminate the requirement for a parent or guardian to sign a liability waiver each time a minor visits the park.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA – The City of Hermosa Beach’s Community Resources Department is launching a membership program at the Hermosa Beach Skate Park starting Monday, April 8, the City announced Monday. The membership program will eliminate the requirement for a parent or guardian to sign a liability waiver each time a minor visits the park.

The Skate Park Membership Program is voluntary and will be available to anyone who uses the Skate Park for a $10 annual fee, the city said. Memberships can be purchased at the Community Center offices from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday. A parent or legal guardian must be present with minors to sign the liability form at the time the membership is purchased, the press release said. A photo ID will be issued at the time of purchase, and members must present this ID to the Skate Park monitor to gain entry, the City said.

“We want to encourage our young community members to exercise and enjoy the outdoors, and the Skate Park is a great place to skate safely,” said Hermosa Beach Mayor Stacey Armato. “After noticing a decline in Skate Park usage, the Community Resources Department developed this streamlined solution to encourage use of the Skate Park through annual memberships that eliminate the need for parents or guardians to have to sign a liability waiver every time a minor child uses the Skate Park.”
