Hermosa Man in Court on Murder Charge

A preliminary hearing for David Brian Abbott, accused of allegedly in her Hermosa Beach apartment on Dec. 31, 2011, has been reset for Sept. 20, according to a Los Angeles County District Attorney spokesperson.

Abbott has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and was due in court last Thursday for a preliminary hearing.

Abbott, who lived in Hermosa Beach at the time, is accused of murdering Samantha Sproson, 38, a Hermosa Beach resident, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Hermosa police officers came to the scene based "on a report of an argument, followed by the sound of a gunshot," Hermosa Beach police Detective Mick Gaglia told Patch in Jan.
