Hermosa Native Honored for 'Valor'
The Hermosa Beach City Council presents Shea McCurdy with a certificate of commendation in recognition of his South Bay Medal of Valor.
For his courage and service to the South Bay area, the Hermosa Beach City Council has presented Hermosa Beach native and Inglewood police officer Shea McCurdy with a certificate of commendation for being awarded the South Bay Medal of Valor this month.
McCurdy was presented with the certificate during a council meeting Tuesday night.
“It’s very rewarding to see someone from our community who grew up here, went through the school systems, and we see the end result, which is a very dedicated police officer in public safety,” said Mayor Peter Tucker. “It’s very admirable for Dick and Cathy, they raised such a wonderful son.”

Shea is the son of Hermosa Beach School Board member Cathy McCurdy.
“I know these gentlemen don’t go looking to get these awards, it’s just in the line of duty," Tucker added. “We all in our daily lives sometimes go out and beyond what were asked to do even in our private lives.”
