Hermosans Suggest How to Save District Schools
With the Hermosa Beach City School District running out of money, residents weigh in on different options that have been proposed to preserve local schools.
As funds continue to dwindle for the Hermosa Beach City School District, the School Board has considered cutting various teaching positions and to further study options to sustain Hermosa View and Valley schools.
Patch caught up with Hermosa Beach residents and asked which of the options they support—options include implementing a parcel tax to raise money, developing a charter school system, unifying with neighboring districts or cutting back on programs. Some locals have their own suggestions.
"I got a $45 parking ticket the other day for parking in the green," said resident Michele Sancisi. "I'm sure you can take some of that and put it toward the schools."
