Homework By Alexandra M. The bell rings and school is officially over for the day! You want to hang out with your friends but then you remember… you have TONS of homework to do! Many teachers and parents agree that homework is helpful and important for students. Although, homework also has its down sides. Over the last fifteen years, children ages nine to eleven have experienced an increase in homework of almost 40%. This increase is thought to be good for students. Many people think that the extra practice at home helps children learn more quickly and efficiently. However, this much homework is not good for kids. Children ages twelve to eighteen are recommended to sleep 8.5 to 10 hours each night. With too much homework, students aren’t getting enough sleep and it is harder for them to focus and learn the next day. In conclusion, I think that students should have little or no homework each day. If kids did not have homework, they could sleep longer, and therefore be more ready to learn the next day at school. Also, they will have more time to learn about their other interests. Little or no homework would be great for students.
