Man Arrested in Attempted Rape
The suspect, who allegedly made friends with a woman online and then blackmailed her for sex, is taken into custody in Hermosa Beach and later released on bail.
Police arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to rape a woman when he tried to blackmail her into having sex with him, detectives said Friday.
John Andor Folinsky of Encino contacted the woman on an online social networking website Wednesday, according to police.
The woman exchanged photos and personal information with Folinsky, who threatened to make them public if she refused to have sexual intercourse with him, police said.

Detectives arrested Folinsky in Hermosa Beach after they covertly arranged a meeting with him through the Internet. Folinsky was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, using fear and duress, police said.
When detectives searched his home, they discovered illegal and prescription drugs for sale. There was no report of whether detectives suspect there might be other victims.

Folinsky was released after posting $185,000 bail.
