Lou’s on the Hill presents Lou & Friends – Up Close & Personal on Thursday, March 12. Lou is back for an encore engagement singing jazz classics from the Great American Songbook with honored friends and special guests. The music begins at 8 p.m. Need I say, reservations are highly recommended? In addition, Lou’s on the Hill is now open for lunch weekdays from 11:30 to 2:30. The Palos Verdes Chamber of Commerce presents the Annual Salute to Business Awards Dinner on Thursday, March 12 at Trump National Golf Club. The public is invited to attend the event to honor local businesses. The reception begins at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and the program. This year’s honorees include Choura Events, Continental Development Corp., Misto Caffe & Bakery, Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center, Elite Dance Studio and others. Tickets prices are $150 per person, $1,500 for a table of ten and $2,000 for a premiere table of ten. Hermosa Beach celebrates all things Irish at the 21 annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 14. Sponsored by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce, the parade begins at 11 a.m. at the staging area near City Hall on Valley Drive. The route makes a left onto Pier Avenue and ends at the corner of Hermosa Avenue and 10 street. The Wearing of the Green is a time-honored tradition. Don’t be surprised to find yourself ordering corned beef and cabbage, savoring a pint of Guinness, singing Danny Boy and kissing perfect strangers. Ya gotta love the Irish. Senior Comedy Afternoons presents O’ Lucky You on Sunday, March 15 at the Los Verdes Golf Club. This show is for anyone looking for a great afternoon full of laughs, a delightful lunch and a chance to socialize. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, this Gaelic-flavored extravaganza features an all-star comedy cast along with an Irish step-dancing duo and Irish fiddler. The comic line-up includes Irishman Scott Wood, Henrietta – the spicy, red hot cougar and Barry Weisenberg. Tickets are $25 per person for the show only or $55 for the show and lunch (includes lunch, tax, gratuities and show). At the door, it’ll cost you $65. Redondo Union High School Theatre Arts Department is proud to announce their production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Performances will be held on March 13, 14, 19 & 20 at 7 p.m. and March 21 at 2 p.m. Thoroughly Modern Millie is a high energy, fun-loving musical that follows Millie Dillmount who moves from rural Kansas to modern New York City in 1922 looking to start a new life. Full of lively tap numbers, devious villains, and romantic male leads, audiences of all ages are guaranteed to love it. Tickets are $10 presale from any cast or crewmember or $15 at the door. The Torrance Firefighters Association presents the 43 annual Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, March 14 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the Ken Miller Auditorium. Bring the entire family to this special annual event and enjoy all the spaghetti you can eat for a very worthy cause. All proceeds benefit the Alisa Ann Ruch California Burn Foundation Summer Camp for burn patients. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children 8 years and under. El Segundo Museum of Art presents Family Movie Night: Hands off Mississippi on Saturday, March 14 from 7 to 10 p.m. Explore Experience 15: SPARK, take part in a discussion with an ESMoA Educator and enjoy free popcorn! Chairs and cushions will be provided or feel free to bring your own. As always, admission is FREE! Based on the beloved children’s novel by Cornelia Funke, Hands off Mississippi tells the story of young Emma who visits her grandmother Dolly for the summer and forms a unique bond with a horse named Mississippi (German with English subtitles). April’s Fools puts its comedic spin on singing competitions at The 18 Annual Lip-Sync Off on Saturday, March 14 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Second Story Theater in Hermosa Beach. “The Lip Sync Off gives a behind the scenes look at singing competitions and lets us show off our improv and lip sync capabilities” said Sean Hannaway of the Fools. “There is controversy at The 18th Annual Lip-Sync Off with hosts and contestants competing for the top prize. Come see who wins or better yet just see the dirt fly.” The show is intended for audiences 13 and older due to some adult content. Tickets are $10 and can be bought at the door or online at http://www.aprilsfoolsimprov.com. The Second Story Theater is located at 710 Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach.
