Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach hosts their monthly Wine AcademyThursday, September 18. Tonight’s event features Taken Wine. Wine loving friends can gather to socialize, taste and learn from experts about new wines in a relaxed, fun, atmosphere. This popular event is open to the public and runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and offers wine lovers an opportunity to enjoy an intimate, casual, wine-centric social gathering. Well-priced at $25 per person in advance, $35 at the door, the Wine Academy features expert, interactive presentations of exceptional wines, boutique and/or limited production wines, along with tantalizing wine-paired hors d’oeuvres prepared by Executive Chef Chris Garasic. Join Councilman Jeff Ginsburg, Artlife Gallery and Plaza Riviera for Art at Plaza Riviera on Thursday, September 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. The community is invited to discover a new local space for the arts during a friendly reception at Plaza Riviera. The evening will feature live art, live music and an artist meet and greet. This event is free and open to the public. Here’s the best part – there is free parking underneath the building! Riviera Village hosts Third Thursdays every month. Stroll along the sidewalks of this charming coastal village overflowing with quaint shops, extraordinary restaurants and firms offering every service imaginable. Shops will stay open for business until 8 p.m. A raffle drawing for Village gift bags add to the fun. The Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce has come up with an appropriately awesome way to celebrate the end the summer – with theBackyard BBQ Opportunity Drawing! Torrance Memorial Medical Center invites the community to attend theGrand Opening Dedication and Ribbon Cutting for the new Melanie and Richard Lundquist Patient Tower on Saturday, September 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nearly three and a half years after breaking ground, Torrance Memorial Medical Center will welcome employees, volunteers and community members inside its seven-story, 390,000-square foot Melanie and Richard Lundquist Tower for tours and a Grand Opening community celebration. The dedication and ribbon cutting will take place at 10:45 a.m.Festivities include guided tours, gourmet food trucks, health information and screenings, pet visitation dogs, Auxiliary clowns, fire truck tours and activities for kids. Celebrate National Yoga Month at Terranea Resort as they present Los Angeles’ largest Yoga Event on Sunday, September 21. Open to the public, the free yoga event begins at 4:30 p.m. with an outdoor wellness marketplace. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with fitness experts from The Spa at Terranea who will share tips on exercise routines, staying fit and more; enjoy a Lululemon trunk show previewing the latest athletic wear; view the current line of TOMS eyewear and create personalized TOMS at the ‘Style Your Sole’ event featuring TOMS footwear artists. The annual Herbalife Triathlon will take place Sunday, September 21 in the City of Torrance. The new twenty-first century Herbalife Triathlon course is designed in a small footprint, spectator-friendly, looping International Triathlon Union style format. The course is located entirely in the City of Torrance, which is ideal for this type of event. The start and finish will be on Torrance Beach with the bike and run segments on city and residential streets, in Miramar Park and the beachfront path. Competition distances will include Olympic, Sprint and Super Sprint, relays, two youth courses and a 5K running race.
