Public comments for the special school board meeting to be held on Monday, March 30 at 2pm can be submitted online through a special comment submission form set up by the school district. Public comments may also be submitted by emailing mmeraz@hbcsd.org with "Public Comment" in the subject line. Public comments must be received at least one hour prior to the start time of the meeting by 1:00 p.m. Comments are limited to approx. 400 words (3 -minute equivalent).

In an attempt to control the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and to reduce and minimize the risk of infection, Governor Newsom issued Executive Orders N-25-20 (March 12, 2020), and N-29-20 (March 17, 2020), waiving certain Brown Act requirements around teleconferencing and public participation at Board meetings. Under the new Executive Orders, Board Members may participate in Board meetings, via teleconference, without geographical or posting restrictions; while, requiring the Board to make the public meeting accessible telephonically or otherwise electronically to all members of the public to observe and to address the Board. During the existence of these Executive Orders, the Board is not required to have a location for the public to be physically present to observe the Board meeting or to address the Board.HBCSD is doing its part to help in the efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by encouraging members of the public to watch the Board of Education meetings live on Time Warner Cable Channel 8 and on Frontier Channel 31, and live online video streaming at https://www.hermosabeach.gov/our-community/agendas-minutes-video.

The special board meeting will be to vote on Resolution #16:19/20 Declaring Construction of North Elementary School an Essential Function of the District. The agenda is available to view and download.
