My temple is welcoming
you to listen to the Dharma, learn about Pure Land Buddhist history, and
celebrate the wonderful renovations to our Pure Land Center in Gardena,
Calif.
After all the hard work we've done over the past year,
it'd be great for you to see what we've done to the place. Outside the
building, we have planted new flowers and trees. Inside, we installed
new red carpets, painted the walls, and made remarkable improvements
inside to the altar room.
On June 30th, we'd like you to join us for
a delicious potluck party with everything from tantalizing homemade
Asian cuisine to good ol' American fare. Lunch begins at Noon. Bring
your favorite dish, but please RSVP by sending a message so we can pull
enough chairs for everyone.
Then at 1:45 p.m., we will begin
our chanting service. Feel free to participate or peacefully observe silently on your own. Chanting usually takes about 20 minutes.
Afterward, listen to a special Buddhist Lecture from Guest Speaker
Hiroyuki Izumi from Japan. There will be a live simultaneous translation
lecture, followed by a short Q&A session. The event concludes at
4:00 p.m.
Try to make it down if you can! If you can't make it
that day, we have plenty of events at people's houses, local libraries,
sightseeing trips, and weekly lectures based at the temple.
