Redondo Police Arrest Man Suspected of Sexually Assaulting Woman on Beach
Officials also believe Gilberto Lopez-Quinonez is connected to strong-arm robberies nearby.
An 18-year-old Torrance man was behind bars today on suspicion of sexually assaulting of a woman on the sand in Redondo Beach, as well as another sexual assault and strong-arm robberies targeting women.
Gilberto Lopez-Quinonez, arrested Saturday shortly after the alleged crime, is accused of assaulting a woman on the beach south of the Avenue I lifeguard tower, Redondo Beach police Sgt. Shawn Freeman said.
Detectives were able to link Lopez-Quinonez to at least one other sexual assault and strong-arm robberies in the same area, Freeman said.

Prosecutors charged him with seven felony counts, Freeman said, adding that Lopez-Quinonez, jailed in lieu of $700,000 bail, is due in court Aug. 15.
