On Monday, April
7, 2014, renowned chef John Sedlar of downtown Los Angeles’ four-star rated
Rivera, creator and founder of MUSEUM TAMAL, and former chef of critically
acclaimed Saint Estèphe restaurant, will return to Manhattan Beach to take over
Executive Chef Greg Hozinsky’s kitchen at The Strand House as part of the
restaurant’s on-going Culinary Masters Series.
For the five-course
dinner, Sedlar, named the “father of modern Southwest cuisine” by
Gourmet Magazine, will recreate some of his most popular dishes from his historically
famous Manhattan Beach Saint Estèphe eatery, which took Los Angeles by storm with
its bold and innovative flavors more than three decades ago. Each dish will
be paired with wines from Trefethen Family Winery, Ceja Vineyards, Comstock
Wines, Faust by Huneeus Vintners and Robert Mondavi Vineyards. Winemakers and
winery associates will be in attendance to comment on each pour.
“We are especially thrilled to open our doors
to Chef Sedlar to recreate a few of his most famous dishes from Saint Estèphe
while cooking alongside The Strand House’s very own top chef, Executive Chef
Greg Hozinsky,” said Michael Zislis, owner of The Strand House. “The
restaurant’s Culinary Masters Series has already proven to be a huge success with
new and returning guests, but with the arrival of such an iconic chef, we are
expecting this particular dinner to sell-out in record time.”
