The budget for safety and security in Hermosa Beach has dramatically declined, in some areas more that 50 %. In the 2010 - 2012 Hermosa Beach budget the Volunteers In Policing (VIP) had an amount of $ 6000 and the Neighborhood Watch $ 12000.
The 2013-14 budget went down to $ 3000 for the VIP and $ 5000 for the Neighborhood Watch.
