Sandwich Generation Forum & Expo to Help Caregivers of Aging Parents & Growing Children

Free Event in Burbank on Nov. 14 to Feature Leeza Gibbons, Resources and Health Screenings

(Los Angeles) – Leeza Gibbons is among 25 prominent speakers who will gather for A Sandwich GenerationForum & Resource Expo to offer help and guidance for people facing the complex challenges of caregiving for aging parents and growing children. The free event will take place on Saturday, November 14 from 9am – 3pm at the Burbank Airport Marriott Convention Center.

KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO is producing the event to provide assistance and resources from healthcare and legal professionals, as well as compassion and advice from others in similar situations. An estimated one of every eight Americans from 40 to 60 now belongs to the so-called sandwich generation, people who care for elderly loved ones while rearing their own children.

Wide-ranging topics will include caregiving in and out of the home, coping with the unexpected financial burden of being caught in the middle, dealing with dementia, adult kids who return to the empty nest, and scams and abuses faced by the elderly.

Entertainment personality Leeza Gibbons, who has become one of the leading voices for issues facing family caregivers, will share insight from her personal experience of providing care for both her mother and grandmother while they struggled with Alzheimer’s disease.

Popular weathercaster and stand-up comic Fritz Coleman will kick off the event with a special performance that will take a comedic look at getting older.

Other guest panelists will include Patricia Perez, AARP California State President; LA County District Attorney Jackie Lacey; Los Angeles Times columnist Chris Erskine and a prominent list of medical professionals, attorneys, financial planners and authors. The event will also feature a resource expo and health screenings.

The forum will be hosted by KNX personalities Jim Thornton, Diane Thompson, Frank Mottek and Charles Feldman.A special live broadcast of Food News with Melinda Lee from 10am – 12pm will look closely at nutritional food that caregivers can quickly and easily prepare.
