At Hermosa Valley School in March of 2014, Principal Taylor and the Hermosa Beach school board decided to purchase Google Chromebooks for students. The Chromebooks are to be used for the new “Smarter Balanced” evaluation tests, which Hermosa will start to use this year to replace the STAR tests. Many students are excited to try out the new laptops, and most of the elementary and middle school classes have been able to use them to take practice tests and get familiar with the questions on the SBAC tests. The first real Smart Balanced test will take place in 2015.
