A South Bay Celebration of a Local Hero, Louis Zamperini

The community get-together is Thursday.

The city of Torrance invites the public to celebrate the life of war hero and South Bay legend, Louis Zamperini.

Torrance, in partnership with the Torrance Historical Society, Torrance Unified School District, Torrance Airport Association, Torrance High School, and the Torrance High School Alumni Association, would like to invite the community to a memorial in honor of Torrance hometown hero, Louis Zamperini who passed away July 3,

The memorial is open to the public and scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 31 at Torrance High School’s Zamperini Stadium, Zamperini’s alma mater. Join us to celebrate the life of Louis Zamperini with airplane flyovers, reflections from Zamperini’s family and friends, and a symbolic lap around the track. It will be a true tribute to our hometown hero.

When: 6 p.m. Thursday, July 31,

Where: Zamperini Stadium - 2125 Lincoln Ave., Torrance

Parking: Available at Torrance Park, SCROC parking lot (west of Zamperini Stadium) located off Crenshaw Blvd., and the business park located at Crenshaw and Park Del Amo (there is a crosswalk with a signal), and other locations - see map.
