This event has just sold out! The public is invited to attend the Art Flying Aerial Showcase on Friday, June 12. The high-flying event will feature instructors and students performing on a range of apparatus including static trapeze, silks, corde lisse, hammock and lyra. General admission is $20 per person. The Redondo Pier Association hosts the second season of Movies on the Boardwalk at the Redondo Beach Pier continuing on Friday, June 12 at 8 p.m. This free event will feature movies every Friday evening throughout the month of June where the International Boardwalk meets the Redondo Beach Pier below Kincaid’s in the octagon. This week’s screening features the movie Up. These events are free and open to the public and take place between 8 and 10 p.m. Movies begin at dusk so times will vary. Did you know that The Redondo Beach Library hosts FREE Foreign Language Practice Sessions? There will be an Italian Language Practice session on Saturday, June 13 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The sessions are led by native speakers so participants will hear correct pronunciation in authentic accents. All ages are welcome but attendees should have some knowledge of the language. For additional information, call 310-318-0675 (option 5). The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception: Share Your Vision at Gallery H on Saturday, June 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibition features a group of advanced students from Creative Photo Academy in Torrance, who will be presenting their yearly portfolio from their advanced boot camp class. Each artist will be presenting a photography series they worked on during last year under the skillful leadership of instructor Mark Comon. In addition, there will be a special photo documentary series by Mark Comon on USS Arizona Sailor, Lauren Bruner, who was awarded a Purple Heart on Dec 7, 1941. The exhibition will be on view from June 13 through July 11. Gallery H is located at 12619 Hawthorne Boulevard in Hawthorne. Gallery H is part of the Phantom Galleries LA stART UP program. Support host town Hermosa and leave your mark on the city! The public is invited to participate in the Special Olympics Hands Project on Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Center. Attendees can add their handprints to the new portable wall celebrating the Special Olympic World Games. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. The public is invited to attend the Redondo Gateway Bike Path Ribbon Cutting & Public Bike Ride on Saturday, June 13 at the corner of Herondo Street and Harbor Drive at 10 a.m. The event will take place at the new plaza parkette that connects the Strand with the new bike lane along Harbor Drive. The plaza includes new lighting, landscaping and an S curved bike path connecting Hermosa and Redondo. In addition, the parkette will feature three pieces of kinetic art that will be unveiled, including the piece commissioned by Redondo Leadership Class 2013, ‘Redondo Beach Sweethearts’ by artist Amos Robinson. The much needed two-way bike path is separated from car traffic by a landscaped median. The improvements also include resurfacing, new street lighting and pedestrian crosswalks. Mayors and City Councilmembers from both Redondo and Hermosa will be in attendance to showcase the $4.6 million project. A public bike ride from The Strand to the Redondo Beach Pier is slated for the same morning at approximately 10:30 a.m.

April’s Fools Comedy Improv Troupe will perform Fools Go to Summer Camp on Saturday, June 13 at the Second Story Theater in Hermosa Beach. Directors Valerie Gorsuch and Lorna Silva and a cast of “fools” will give you that Summer Camp experience improv style, with suggestions from audience turned into comedy! Beach Cities Cycling Club (BCCC) will be conducting a safety course, Bicycling Traffic Skills 101, on Saturday June 13 and Saturday, June 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Beach Cities Health District in Redondo Beach. The course is taught by experienced volunteer League of American Bicyclists Instructors as well as USA Cycling Coaches and is designed to teach bicyclists how to safely maneuver on the road. The class covers traffic laws, roadway positioning, crash avoidance, flat tire change, basic on-bike handling skills and more. Students will walk away from the course with greater knowledge, skill and confidence of how to safely ‘drive’ a bicycle in traffic. The class if FREE to club members and it costs $25 to join the club. Registration is required. To register for the course, contact education@bccclub.org. King Harbor Boating Foundation presents Craft Brews & Tunes on Sunday, June 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Eureka Tasting Kitchen. This fundraiser will benefit KHBF’s Waterfront Education Program. The afternoon will feature craft beer, gourmet appetizers and live Caribbean music by the Dietz Brothers. General admission tickets are $46 per person. Reserved tables and booths for four guests start at $184. Beverage tickets are equal to 12 craft brew tastings or 3 craft brew pints. Beach Cities Health District presents Zumba in the Park, weekly from June 15 through August 3, as part of the Free Fitness Summer Series. Get ready to dance your way into shape this summer! Every Monday night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. the public is invited to participate and move at their own pace and all ages are welcome. This FREE communitywide event brings together the Beach Cities, fitness and fun but advance registration is required! Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and athletic clothing. Classes will be led by certified Zumba® instructors from the Center for Health & Fitness and AdventurePlex. Zumba in the Park was a huge hit last summer and it’s even more popular this year!
