A few of our favorite summer events will be ending this weekend. If you haven’t yet attended the El Segundo Art Walk, Hermosa Beach Summer Concert Series or the Lunada Bay Concert Series this season, this is your last chance ‘til next year!

Del Amo Fashion Center will be holding a Job Fair on Thursday, August 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Torrance Marriott Redondo Beach. Job seekers interested in retail and restaurant work will have an opportunity to become a part of Del Amo Fashion Center’s style evolution, as numerous retailers at the center seek to fill positions ahead of Nordstrom’s October 9 opening date. Attendees will have an opportunity to talk with hiring managers about available opportunities, submit resumes, and fill out applications while onsite. Many retailers will be conducting interviews on the spot, so applicants are encouraged to dress for success. The community is invited to celebrate art in El Segundo on the third Thursday evenings of the summer months. Located in the Downtown and Smoky Hollow districts, the El Segundo Art Walk includes over 20 local businesses displaying the work of dozens of local artists. The evening features fine art, live music, great food and studio tours. It’s fun and it’s FREE! The FINAL Art Walk for the season will take place tonight, Thursday, August 20. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce is holding its monthly Evening Networking Mixer tonight, Thursday, August 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Trump National Golf Club. Chamber members and non-members alike are welcome to build business referrals and expand their marketing. Guests will network with a backdrop of spectacular views and ocean breezes. The Hermosa Beach Firefighters Association is proud to present 5 Alarm Comedy – A Blazing Night of Laughs on Thursday, August 20 at the Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach. Doors open at 6:30 pm with the show getting under way at 8 p.m. Guests must be at least 18 years old to attend and there is a two drink minimum. Take advantage of full service dining and order before or during the show. The venue and talent are both generously provided by the Comedy & Magic Club. The sixth annual Lomita Fire and Sheriff’s Spaghetti Dinner will take place on Friday, August 21 from 5 pm to 8 p.m. at the Lomita Harbor City Kiwanis Hall. It’s a fun-filled, family friendly day filled with food, raffle prizes and entertainment. In addition, there will be a fire engine/truck and police car available for photo ops.. New blankets and Limited Edition T-Shirts from previous years will be available for purchase. Tickets will be sold at the door. Admission for adults is $10 per person and $5 for children 12 and under. Proceeds from the event go directly to Lomita Fire Station 6, Lomita Sheriff’s Station and other community needs. The El Segundo Police Officers Association is proud to announce the 18 annual Main Street Car Show. This popular event is free to the public and will take place on Saturday, August 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the 100 to 500 blocks of Main Street. The Main Street Car Show is open to all pre-1975 custom classic street rods, antique sports cars, race cars and special interest cars. The event also features live music and a raffle with some great prizes. Enjoy the sights and sounds as you stroll along the streets of downtown El Segundo surrounded by impressive engine blocks, tricked out exhaust systems, custom paint jobs, lavish interiors and swanky rims. Proceeds from the show are utilized to support many worthwhile causes throughout the community such as Fueled by the Fallen, the El Segundo Education Foundation and C.A.S.E. (Community Alliance to Support and Empower). The first annual Movie at the Beach is presented by Hermosa Beach Friends of the Park on Saturday, August 22. The featured film, Surf’s Up, will be screened at 7 p.m. on the south side of the Hermosa Pier in the sand. This is the same location as the Hermosa Beach Summer Concert Series. This FREE event is sponsored by the Sun Screen Film Festival, Saint Rocke and App-ology.com. Donations in support of Friends of the Parks are appreciated. White Light White Night has been rescheduled for August 22 on The Rooftop of The Plaza at Continental Park beginning at 5 p.m. and ending at 11 p.m. The evening benefits non-profit Walk With Sally, an organization dedicated to providing free mentoring support programs to children of parents or siblings with cancer. In addition to a live concert by Super Diamond [The Neil Diamond Tribute], red carpet and VIP experience, guests will enjoy gourmet bites from over 20 restaurants during the Taste of Los Angeles. Restaurants include Doma Kitchen, Strand House, Coni’ Seafood, Pitfire Grill, Simmzy’s and many others. The festivities will also include beverages and specialty cocktails from local craft breweries and boutique wineries. Buffalo Fire Department presents the South Bay Open Blues Jam on Sunday, August 23 from noon to 4 p.m. The monthly jam session will take place the last Sunday of every month and local musicians are encouraged to sit in. The Hermosa Beach Summer Concerts, sponsored by Saint Rocke and LA Car Guy, take place Sundays in August from 4 to 8 p.m. on the south side of the Hermosa Beach Pier. The FINAL concert of the season will take place Sunday, August 23 and features the music of Pato Banton. These FREE concerts are some of the most popular events in the South Bay and the crowds number well into the thousands. Break out the beach chairs, blankets and picnic baskets and prepare for balmy summer evenings filled with great music and spectacular sunsets. You’ll want to arrive early to claim a prime viewing spot. The Lunada Bay Homeowners Association presents the Summer Concert Series in Lunada Bay Park on Sunday, August 23. The FINAL concert of the season featuring Country Nation gets underway at 5 p.m. Be sure to bring a picnic dinner and enjoy a wonderful evening in the park with family and friends. The Western Museum of Flight will host Make N Take Model Sessions every Wednesday in August from noon to 2 p.m. Everyone is invited to stop by the WMoF and take part in this fun, family activity. Build it and then take it home, while at the same time learning a little about flight and the triumph of space pioneering. These sessions are exciting, engaging, educational, and something the whole family will enjoy together! Guests are invited to build as many models as they like. Each kit is $12. The staff of Pacific Coast Hobbies will be on hand to assist with building and answer technical questions. The Point hosts Concerts in The Point Plaza every Wednesday night through September 30. These free concerts will showcase tribute bands from 6 to 8 p.m. Next Wednesday, August 26, guests will enjoy the music of the Dave Matthews Experience, a Dave Matthews tribute band. Gallery H of Phantom Galleries LA in Hawthorne has posted a ‎Dia De Los Muertos Open Call for Art Exhibition to take place from October 24 through November 28. All submissions must be received by Thursday, August 27 by 5 p.m. PST. There is a maximum of four submissions from each artist. All submissions must be the artist’s original work.
