Thanksgiving Earthquake Under Santa Monica Bay

Hermosa Beach experienced a magnitude-2.8 earthquake at 6:03 a.m. today.

A magnitude-2.8 earthquake was recorded under Santa Monica Bay this morning.

The temblor hit at 6:03 a.m. and was centered about four miles northwest
of Hermosa Beach, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Quakes that measure less than magnitude-3.0 are barely perceptible by
humans.

On Nov. 6 at 12:44 p.m., a magnitude-2.7 quake was recorded about 10
miles west of Hermosa Beach and, on Nov. 5 at 6:39 p.m., a magnitude-3.3 quake was recorded in roughly the same area.
