Rockfish dominate the Hermosa Beach coast as well as lingcod—grab a fork.

There's good rockfishing just about everywhere along the Southern California coast now, which not only helps fill the void left by the lack of surface fish action, but also provides anglers with excellent tablefare.
There are more than 60 species of California rockfish found in local waters from San Diego to the Channel Islands, all of which are great eating.
In most cases, you will be fishing in about 300 feet of water, so you'll need a 10-ounce torpedo sinker along with a two-hook rig.

And a lively sardine or anchovy will be just right. Strips of mackerel are also effective, and don’t forget how much big lingcod like to munch on a freshly caught sand dab.

Jimmy Bass from Tradition Sportfishing said one of the best ways to catch a big lingcod is to bait your hook with a freshly caught sand dab.
"Over and over again, a sand dab for bait will produce a fat ling," he said.
