LOS ANGELES, CA — A suspect was arrested on suspicion of murder in the shooting of a 26-year-old man in Highland Park Tuesday night.
Robert De Leon died at the scene of the shooting near Avenue 64 and York Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner's office.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of shots fired at the intersection at about 8:15 p.m. and found De Leon suffering from gunshot wounds.
The shooting prompted a large police presence in the area, with a police helicopter overhead and numerous patrol vehicles speeding through the neighborhood.
The gunman fled the area in a black Tesla Model 3, KTLA reported, citing police.
During a follow-up investigation near Figueroa Street and Avenue 26, officers identified the suspected shooter, CBS Los Angeles reported.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of murder, according to the station. Authorities did not immediately release his name or additional details about the arrest.
Police have not said what may have led up to the shooting.
