Love and I
“He drew a circle that shut me out-
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
But love and I had the wit to win:
We drew a circle and took him in!" - Edwin Markham

I gotta be me, but I still need you. I can't distinguish myself if I have no one to be distinguished from. I can't know what is uniquely mine if there is no you.
Astrology always shows us the contrasts, the oppositions, but without contrast there is no balance or wholeness. Each of the seven planets known to the ancients is assigned a pair of opposites. Duality is vital to life. Some of what we have to learn while we are on this earth is how to balance seemingly opposing forces.
Mother Theresa is quoted as saying, "I won’t go to an anti-war rally. If you have a peace rally, invite me." This seems to be the key to resolving some of the conflicts of our time. We give so much energy to fighting, and not enough to resolving. We can’t talk to the people who make us angry; we can only try to stop them.
We have lots of conflagration, competition energy going on with four planets in Aries. Mars, the planet of war is conjunct Uranus, the planet of revolution and both are squaring Pluto, planet of powerful change. One of the ways this is expressed is in the Supreme Court’s consideration of gay marriage. Juno, the asteroid of relationships is in Aquarius, the sign of uniqueness and making a trine aspect to the Moon in Libra, sign of relationships and balance, another indication of the task of the Supreme Court. Also, the Moon in Libra is trine Jupiter in Gemini, relating to legal matters and Jupiter, in turn is making an inconjunct to Pluto, indicating a legal adjustment. There are three planets, Pluto, Mars and Jupiter, and one asteroid, Chiron, in 11 degrees of a sign. 11, being two ones, indicates likeness over difference, and because 11 is one degree into the next decan (division of 10) it could also signify change on the horizon.
Aries is great at initiating. Friendship can be initiated. Compromise can be initiated.
The Jupiter to Pluto also suggests that we might be able to do some tough work in the spirit of adjustment and negotiation.
If you are in a tight spot with a loved one, consider putting it to the talk. Be willing to adjust, fine tune and negotiate. Be aware that it might be necessary to make concessions. It might be necessary to give something up in order to get something. All of the planets in Aries form a harmonious sextile to Jupiter, making for spirited but friendly and revelatory debate. So if you have something to say that seems to be tough, this might be the best time to say it, both in terms of having the courage to put it out there, and having the courage to give a little in order to get a little. Put on your listening cap. It might be quite interesting to hear what the other party has to say. It could end up being more enlightening than threatening.
“There is a destiny which makes us brothers;
none goes his way alone.
All that we send into the lives of others
comes back into our own.” –Edwin Markham
