Patch Blog: Changing Los Angeles: Green Festival and Amy Goodman
The Green Festival is coming to Los Angeles Oct 29 and 30 for the first time. Featured speakers will include Amy Goodman of Democracy Now!

The Green Festival is coming for the first time to the Los Angeles Convention Center next weekend Sat October 29 10 am -7 pm, and Sunday Oct 30 11 am-6 pm. It is a joint project of Green America and Global Exchange. Speakers, exhibitors, discussions, activities for children, food, and no greenwashing. You won’t find the “green” division of Chevron or Dow. It is the only green event that screens exhibitors for their commitment to sustainability, ecological balance, and social justice, each year getting closer to being a zero-waste event. Bring your own fork.
The speaker line-up is filled with local activists. I am particularly interested to hear Paula Daniels, Commissioner on the LA City Board of Public Works. You can also hear national luminaries such as Dolores Huerta, and Bill McKibben. But for me the main draw on Sunday at 1:00 pm is a rare Los Angeles visit from Amy Goodman of Democracy Now!
If you are not already a fan, look it up http://www.democracynow.org/or tune in. In LA you can hear her daily on KPFK 90.7 FM at 6 am, and 9 am, and on Free Speech TV, (FSTV) several times a day. Amy and her worldwide team of dedicated journalists bring you news and information you cannot get anywhere else. Here you can find a national broadcast of uncensored, unbiased news, not controlled by any corporate or commercial interest.
