Dual Opening: Codex of the Migrant | Vessels & Rhythms of El Corazon
Event Details
On July 25, the gallery opens two simultaneous exhibitions — its second dual opening since relocating to Figueroa Street in Cypress Park, and the continuation of a programming model it carried over from its original Avenue 50 location where five showrooms ran concurrently.
Codex of the Migrant / Codex del Fuego (curated by Maritza Torres) marks one year since the June 2025 immigration enforcement actions in Los Angeles — original works built in the tradition of the codex to outlast a news cycle. Vessels & Rhythms of El Corazón presents a 40-year solo retrospective of Chicano artist Manny LeGaspe, curated by Kene J. Rosa, with work shown previously at the Riverside Art Museum and The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture.
Opening reception is July 25, 3–6PM — food vendors and a music selector on site. Free and open to the public.
Both shows run through August 22 with workshops, a pop-up vending event, and a closing part
