The martial art of Danzan Ryu JuJitsu is comprised of techniques and methods for self defense and personal development. This style of JuJitsu is based on ancient Japanese jujitsu forms and came to the US via Hawaii in the 1920's. Our system relies on the proper use of technique, rather than sheer muscular strength, to overcome adversity. Arts learned in class include escapes, joint locks, throws, holds, and rolls and falls. Ju means gentle or yielding and Jitsu means art. JuJitsu is the yielding art where force is not met head on. Rather one takes the force and yields to it and uses the aggressor's force against them.
