La Abeja Now Open for Dinner
The mainstay eatery--located at the crossroads of Mt. Washington, Highland Park and Cypress Park--is now open for dinners starting on Wednesday.

Long lauded by locals for their breakfasts and lunches of huevos rancheros and burritos, will begin serving dinner until 8 p.m. starting on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
“We felt it’s the right time to open our doors for dinner. I know that around this neighborhood there aren’t many options for a sit-down dinner, so we’re just trying to fill that need,” said owner Rojelio Fonseca, whose family established the North Figueroa Restaurant in 1969.
They have not served dinners since the early 1980's, according to Fonseca.

In addition to its various daily specials, La Abeja is well known among Northeast L.A. residents for the striking art that adorns it outer walls, including a mural featuring the Three Stooges.
“My mom loved those guys, so in memory of her and the laughter they brought us, we put them up on the wall,” Fonseca said.
