The missing link(s)?

There's something pushing Obama's response we haven't been told.  Otherwise, it is irrational to:
     Bomb Syria before the report of the U.N. inspectors is published.
     Bomb Syria independent of the wishes of the United Nations.
     Bomb Syria, killing more innocent people.
     Bomb Syria, when there are problems at home to be addressed.
     Bomb Syria, further de-stabilizing an already and perpetually unstable region.
     Bomb Syria, when former allies do not support it.
     Bomb Syria, when our recent military actions in the region have not led to peace.
     Bomb Syria, when past military actions in the region by foreign powers has not led to peace.
     Bomb Syria, when it has been proven time and again that violence only creates more violence.
