1 Killed In Early Morning 101 Freeway Pileup

STUDIO CITY, CA — A fatal crash shut down the Hollywood (101) Freeway in Studio City early Monday morning.

One person died at the scene of a crash involving several vehicles shortly before 2:30 a.m. Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers were called to the scene on the northbound side of the Hollywood Freeway south of Lankershim Boulevard. The crash investigation prompted an early morning SigAlert, shutting down all northbound lanes of the freeway, according to the CHP.

Authorities did not immediately release the victim's identity pending notification of next of kin. Nor did investigators publicly identify a cause for the fatal crash.
