101 Off-Ramp Crash Victim Identified; Speed Determined As Factor

Authorities have identified the 36-year-old man killed in a Vine Street off-ramp crash in Hollywood early Thursday morning.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Authorities have identified a 36-year-old man killed when his minivan crashed off an on-ramp of the 101 Freeway.

Valentin Lorenzo and an unidentified passenger were traveling in a Honda Odyssey on the Vine Street off-ramp from the southbound 101 when the car crashed into a guardrail at about 3:35 Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Lorenzo was thrown from the vehicle and died at a nearby hospital. The passenger was also taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

Investigators have determined speed was a factor in the crash, but it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role.
