2 Officers Hurt In Hollywood Police Chase Crash

The officers were hospitalized in unknown condition, and the suspects got away.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Two Los Angeles Police Department officers were hurt Thursday when a chase that began in Hollywood ended in a crash and while a suspected drunken driver escaped

The crash happened in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles when a patrol car that was called in for backup crashed on the way to the chase. The crash happened shortly before midnight Wednesday at Beverly and La Brea boulevards. The two officers in the vehicle were taken to a hospital in unknown condition, the LAPD said. It was unclear if any other vehicles were involved. No other injuries were reported.

The chase began at Highland Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard at about 11:40 p.m. when officers attempted to pull over a suspected DUI driver. The driver fled, according to the LAPD.

Officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle, a black Chevy Volt with Arizona license plates and three people inside, in the area of Wilshire Boulevard and Crescent Drive about 11:45 p.m., police said.

A detailed description of the suspects was not immediately available.
