HOLLYWOOD, CA — Two burglary suspects are at large after breaking into the Hollywood Hills home of a woman in her 70s, strangling her and making off with money and jewelry Thursday night, according to police.
Officers were called just after 8 p.m. Thursday to the 8500 block of Lookout Mountain Avenue, just west of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, where they learned the masked suspects broke into the residence and were confronted by the victim, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The two suspects entered the home and demanded property, including money and jewelry. They then attacked and strangled the woman, police said.
The suspects, who were wearing dark-colored hoodies, ran from the scene and drove away in a white sedan, according to police.
They made off with $20,000 in cash, along with jewelry, Fox 11 reported.
The victim was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
The incident comes amid a string of over a dozen break-ins and attempted break-ins in the San Fernando Valley in April.
