HOLLYWOOD, CA — A 57-year-old man has been charged with killing three people inside a Hollywood apartment after ordering them to the floor at gunpoint and shooting them multiple times, authorities said.

Prosecutors charged Spurlock Monday with three counts of murder. The charges include a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, along with allegations involving a prior murder conviction, serious prior felony convictions and the personal and intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury, court records show.

The victims were identified as Los Angeles residents Jeremiah Badeker, Jack Cartegena and Michael Bogacz.

Police said Spurlock and the three victims were gathered inside an apartment on the 1900 block of Wilcox Avenue, near Cahuenga Boulevard, during the early morning hours of July 24 when an altercation broke out.

Police claim Spurlock ordered the three men to the floor at gunpoint before shooting them numerous times as they lay on the ground, police said.

Officers conducting a welfare check at 1929 Wilcox Ave. on Aug. 2, more than two weeks after the shooting, found the three victims dead inside the apartment, according to the LAPD.

The nature of the altercation and Spurlock's relationship to the victims were not immediately clear.

Spurlock is scheduled to appear in a Hollywood courtroom Aug. 31 for a mental competency hearing, according to court records.
