LOS ANGELES — Elizabeth Taylor's former estate in Bel Air is undergoing a $47 million buildout and rehabilitation, The New York Post recently reported.
The 1.3-acre property where Taylor lived for three decades until her death in 2011 was purchased by builder Ardie Tavangarian in 2021 for $15 million, according to the Post.
"I'm approaching this as though she is my client," he told the newspaper.
Much of the interior will be the same as when the star lived in the 7,000-square-foot, five-bedroom home, the Post reported, but a 12,000-square-foot buildout is being added, with three more bedrooms, a spa and a screening room. The project will also include a 4,500-square-foot retractable roof, according to the Post.
"We're trying to create something that is a continuation of Elizabeth Taylor and her legacy while creating a phase 2 to enhance the beauty that is already here," Tavangarian told the newspaper.
