LOS ANGELES, CA — Drivers traveling through the Cahuenga Pass should prepare for an overnight closure of the northbound 101 Freeway early Thursday, according to Caltrans.
The northbound freeway will be fully shut down from 1 to 4 a.m. Thursday between the Barham Boulevard off-ramp and the Barham Boulevard Overcrossing for paving work.
Drivers will be directed off the freeway at the Barham Boulevard off-ramp, Exit 11A, and will continue north on Cahuenga Boulevard East and W.C. Fields Drive before returning to the northbound 101 Freeway.
Caltrans said message signs will be placed along the detour route and advised motorists to allow extra travel time and use caution in the construction area.
The closure is part of a $24.3 million pavement rehabilitation project along the 101 Freeway in the Cahuenga Pass.
Crews are rehabilitating asphalt on freeway lanes, ramps and shoulders and repairing or replacing concrete slabs. The project also includes work on guardrails, curbs, dikes, a crash cushion and traffic striping.
Curb ramps at 23 locations will also be upgraded to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards, according to Caltrans.
Construction is expected to continue through summer 2029. Chumo Construction Inc. is the contractor for the project.
Caltrans warned that nearby residents and businesses may experience construction noise, vibrations and dust. The closure schedule could also change because of weather or operational conditions.
