Angela Bassett And Mel Brooks Will Recieve Honorary Oscars
The "Black Panther" actress and comedy legend will receive honorary Oscars this fall.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Comedy legend Mel Brooks, actress Angela Bassett and "E.T." film editor Carol Littleton will receive honorary Oscars, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Monday.
The Academy also announced that Michelle Satter of the Sundance Institute will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. The trio will be presented with statuettes at the 14th Governors Awards in November.
The Academy Honorary Award is bestowed to people for lifetime achievement, contributions to filmmaking or service to the Academy. The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award is given to those in the film community "whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry."

"Carol Littleton's career in film editing serves as a model for those who come after her.
"A pillar of the independent film community, Michelle Satter has played a vital role in the careers of countless filmmakers around the world," Academy President Janet Yang said in a statement.
Bassett earned a Best Actress nomination for her her portrayal of Tina Turner in "What's Love Got to Do with It." She was named one of Time's 100 most influential people earlier this year. She earned another Oscar nomination for her role as Queen Ramonda in 2022's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever."
Brooks, an EGOT recipient, directed a series of comedies that have gone on to become classics, including "The Producers," "Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein" and "Spaceballs."
Littleton's five-decade career in film editing includes an Oscar nomination for "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial." Her other credits include "Body Heat," "The Big Chill," "Places in the Heart" and the "Manchurian Candidate."
Satter is the founding senior director of the Sundance Institute's Artist Programs, which saw her help develop the careers of rising filmmakers. She also led the Institute's efforts in Asia, Europe, India, Latin America and the Middle East, and founded Sundance Collab.
