Wallspace Celebrates it's "1" Year Anniversary this Saturday April 27th!

"1" opens this Saturday at Wallspace Gallery and celebrates the one year anniversary of the gallery on La Brea Ave. The group exhibition will feature 350 works from over 60 Los Angeles based artists. The event takes place on Saturday, April 27th from 7-10pm.

Wallspace was a virtual gallery for years, and is now celebrating its one-year anniversary for their home on La Brea and Melrose Ave. Artist Sona Mirzaei has been working with gallerist, Valda Lake since 2010, so it was a natural progression for Sona to be included as a featured artist when the physical gallery, Wallspace opened.

"The venue itself is amazing space and definitely makes any artist excited to exhibit in. The high vaulted ceilings, great space, amazing location, and wonderful people," says Sona.

The Gallery features art in a salon style on 14' high walls, literally floor-to-ceiling art. The first year has been a huge success. Lake explains, "I´ve loved working with the talented Los Angeles based artists, meeting the community in this neighborhood I live in and also introducing new people to our artists.

She continues, "I love Sona´s new work, very excited to show the beginnings of her new series "My Thirteen Commandments," inspired by the original Ten Commandments. We will be showing the first two of the Commandments collection, Thou Shalt Honor the Golden Rule, a pay it forward statement, and the only significant commandment left unchanged Thou Shalt Not Kill at Wallspace for the anniversary show. It is thrilling to show these first two pieces of this provocative series that ona is even now developing in her studio".

Sona in turn, is looking forward to the big  anniversary event and showing her new work. She muses, "Art and creativity evolve like every other creation or specimen on this planet. I am in between my traditional abstract expressionism as well as focusing on figurative, pop art culture and mixed media in 3dimensional formats while incorporating what´s currently happening in our society into my practice.

Finally she adds, "It´s funny because as an artist, we go through phases of who influences our work and the timing of when that takes place in our practices, but overall it is development. Lately I've been working in pop art with a street art presence, figurative, and collage with 3Dimensional ffects. Mixed media has always been a featured medium in most of my works as well as making he pieces dimensional which is a large part of why I love creating visual art."

The anniversary show also includes artists MB Boissonault, Gary Palmer, Nataša Prosenc Stearns, Stephanie Visser and many more. The event will be held at Wallspace located at 607 North La rea. LA, 90036 on Saturday, April 27th from 7-10pm.
