Brush Fire Breaks Out Near Hollywood Bowl

Firefighters battled a small grass fire in the Hollywood Hills Friday.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Firefighters have been on the scene of a grass fire moving uphill near the Hollywood Bowl.

The blaze was first reported at 1:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of North Highland Avenue, and it quickly reached a half-acre in size before crews were able to snuff it out, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.

The blaze was causing massive traffic delays on the Hollywood (101) Freeway. The California Highway Patrol had shut down the Highland Avenue off-ramp due to the blaze.

The smoke could be seen for miles. The blaze, in a highly congested area, jammed up traffic and drew spectators interfering with firefighting efforts. Within minutes of the fire's start, the Los Angeles Fire Department was forced to put out a plea to the public to clear the area for firefighters after a drone interfered with arial efforts to fight the blaze.
