Burst Water Main in Hollywood Closes Road

An eight-inch water main burst today in Hollywood.

No structures were damaged as the water gushed onto Fountain Avenue, just east of Western Avenue and the Hollywood (101) Freeway, Los Angeles city Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott said.

But the street in front of 5457 Fountain Ave. got “extensive” damage, he added.

Firefighters slowed the flow and the city Department of Transportation sent crews to divert traffic. The Department of Water and Power sent a crew to cap the broken pipe and repair it.
