Burst Water Main Stymies Hollywood Neighborhood

An 8-inch water main burst, disrupting service and traffic in a Hollywood neighborhood Monday.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Residents in a Hollywood neighborhood lost water service Monday morning when a water main broke.

The eight-inch cast iron pipe burst at about 12:30 a.m. in the 6600 block of Lexington Avenue, near Las Palmas Avenue, LADWP spokesman Jason Stinett said.

Water and Power officials were working to discover the cause of the break. Sometimes cold water flushing through the pipes will cause the pipes to contract and break, Stinett said
