Dive In! Hollywood Pool to Stay Open Two More Months
The city will spend about $40,250 to keep the newly renovated pool at the Hollywood Recreation Center open for two extra months.

The newly renovated pool at the Hollywood Recreation Center will stay open on weekends for an extra two months, city officials announced today.
City pool hours typically end after Labor Day, but the Hollywood-area pool will continue to stay open on weekends from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 25.
City officials said they came up with about $40,250 to pay for the extended weekend schedule. The pool’s weekday hours will still end after Labor Day.

“I really want my constituents to enjoy the waning summer months in this beautifully renovated city-owned facility,” said Councilman Mitch O’Farrell, who used some council discretionary funds to help pay for the extra hours.
The aquatics facility proved popular after it reopened following renovation work -- funded by Proposition K -- that added a new water slide, shaded bleachers, lifeguard chair and landscaping.

“With the overwhelming positive response we’ve received since its re- opening, we are excited to be extending additional pool hours for the community to enjoy,” said Recreation and Parks General Manager Michael A. Shull. “From the diving boards to the amazing water slide, the more time available for children and the community, the better.”
General admission for adults 18-64 years of age is $3.50. Children 17 years and under, and seniors 65 years and older, pay $1 to swim. The pool office can be reached at (323) 460-7030.
