Dr. Usha Rajagopal: Female Empowerment in Hollywood

Renowned Plastic Surgeon Dr. Usha Rajagopal Shares Her Thoughts On The Standards Placed On Women In Hollywood

It is rarely the case that the most elite members of Hollywood’s beau monde demonstrate universal agreement on just about any subject, and it is only recently that the Golden Globe Awards seem to have transformed into an event in which the stars gathered together recognize and take advantage of the opportunity to give voice to a message or movement of great import. Perhaps this is why the theme on display at this year’s Golden Globe Awards -- female empowerment, to be sure -- stood out in such stark relief.

Each time the camera panned to the audience observers surely took note of the solidarity on display, as the overwhelming majority of the award show guests dressed in black in support of the “Time’s Up” movement and female empowerment in general. Based on the speeches and the momentum gathering in support of the movement, it isn’t hard to predict that the theme of female empowerment will be a dominant one for the remainder of 2018 and beyond.

While it might seem that the theme of female empowerment is a product of the events of just the last 18 months or so, those who have dedicated their lives to support female empowerment and education point out that the power of this movement has been steadily growing for a far longer period of time than most realize. Dr. Usha Rajagopal, for example, has spent the past two decades as a staunch advocate in support of female empowerment and education.

Dr. Usha Rajagopal, a San Francisco-based plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic plastic surgery, has a unique perspective when it comes to empowering and educating women. Over the course of her more than 20 years of experience as a board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Usha Rajagopal has had the opportunity to counsel patients about the many different pathways that lead to greater empowerment for women, including -- but certainly not limited to, of course -- cosmetic surgery, medical skin care, and laser treatments.

For Dr. Rajagopal and all the other professionals who have utilized their position to empower and educate women over the course of their respective careers are hardly surprised by such strong showings of solidarity like the one on display at the Golden Globes. Those that have dedicated several decades to the movement have stood patiently as the tide continued to rise, and now that the notion of female empowerment has so many prominent voices speaking out in unison, it appears that the many years of hard work are finally beginning to yield some critical returns.
