Driver Plunges Down Hollywood Hills Embankment

An older woman was hospitalized after her vehicle went over an embankment and overturned, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

HOLLYWOOD HILLS, CA — A woman is lucky to be alive today after her vehicle plunged down a 20-foot embankment and overturned, landing close to a house in the Hollywood Hills Wednesday.

Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters rescued the woman and evacuated the nearby house Wednesday, officials said. The unidentified woman's condition was not known.

"Firefighter-paramedics transported one elderly female to a local hospital in fair condition," said Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crash occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. in the 3100 block of North Deronda Drive, Prange said.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the driver to plunge down the embankment. The cause of the crash remained under investigation, according to Prange.

No other injuries were reported.

It is unknown if the nearby home was structurally compromised in the crash, Prange added.
